Autumn French Toast

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of Le Royal bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 Quebec apple, thinly sliced
  • A few crushed walnuts

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
  2. Heat a pan over medium heat and add the butter.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture.
  4. When the butter has melted and starts to foam, add the soaked bread slices. Cook until golden and crispy on each side, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. While the bread is browning, sauté the apple slices in another small pan with a bit of butter until tender and lightly caramelised.
  6. Add 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and a few walnuts. Stir and cook for a few moments to glaze them slightly.
  7. Place the caramelised apple and walnut mixture over the golden French toast slices.
  8. Serve the French toast hot.
  9. Drizzle generously with maple syrup and enjoy!
