Autumn French Toast

Ingredients
- 4 slices of Le Royal bread
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup of milk
- 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1 Quebec apple, thinly sliced
- A few crushed walnuts
Preparation
- In a bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
- Heat a pan over medium heat and add the butter.
- Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture.
- When the butter has melted and starts to foam, add the soaked bread slices. Cook until golden and crispy on each side, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- While the bread is browning, sauté the apple slices in another small pan with a bit of butter until tender and lightly caramelised.
- Add 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and a few walnuts. Stir and cook for a few moments to glaze them slightly.
- Place the caramelised apple and walnut mixture over the golden French toast slices.
- Serve the French toast hot.
- Drizzle generously with maple syrup and enjoy!
